Notably, France emerged as the leading destination for Italian tea exports, with $1.42M, followed by the Netherlands ($940k), Malta ($579k), Germany ($384k), and Poland ($342k).

Italy experienced significant growth in tea exports between 2020 and 2021. The fastest-growing export markets for Italian tea during this period were France, witnessing an increase of $808k, followed by the Netherlands with $451k and Poland with $221k.

The primary sources of Italy’s tea imports were Spain, accounting for $16.5M, followed by Poland ($12.9M), India ($9.68M), Germany ($9.31M), and Morocco ($6.37M).

Potential Of Tea Import and Export Between Vietnam-Italy

While the bilateral trade between Vietnam and Italy may not currently reach significant levels, it is worth noting that Italy’s tea imports in 2021 amounted to a total value of $10,854. Recognizing this, it becomes evident that Vietnam, as a global leader in tea production and export, has immense potential to collaborate with Italy in introducing Vietnamese tea to the Italian market in the foreseeable future.

Tariffs

In 2019, the average tariff for tea imports in Italy was 0.3%. It is worth noting that Italy applied a Most Favored Nation duty rate treatment to several countries, including the Republic of the Congo, Algeria, Western Sahara, Gabon, and Libya. These countries imposed the highest import tariffs of 0.8% on tea.
